About This Role

Position: Learning Support Assistant for SEND & PMLD

Location: Bordon, Hampshire

Salary: £15.25 per hour (from April 2026)

Hours: 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, during term time only

Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing (Temp to Perm)

You'll be providing dedicated 1:1 or small group support, all while ensuring our students thrive in a caring and fun environment. Your role will include using creativity and compassion to implement behavior and care plans, operating specialist equipment, and celebrating progress every step of the way. Safety and dignity are our top priorities, and your positive energy will help create a nurturing atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and support students with PMLD, focusing on their unique learning, communication, and physical goals

  • Bring Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to life with enthusiasm and care

  • Assist with personal care tasks, always respecting and maintaining the dignity of each student

  • Enhance communication and sensory learning using visual aids, Makaton, and more

  • Guide students in emotional regulation, transitions, and behavior management with empathy

  • Work collaboratively with a team of dedicated teachers, therapists, and parents

  • Prioritize safety and safeguarding at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in SEND/PMLD or similar care/support roles is essential

  • Bring plenty of patience, empathy, resilience, and flexibility to the table

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are a must

  • A good understanding of sensory needs, autism, and communication challenges, or the eagerness to learn, will be highly valued
